Security Solutions

Did you know that sixty percent (60%) of small businesses go out of business within six months of a cyber-attack? Are you prepared if a hacker decided to target your business? Rancor Studios offers a wide array of managed security solutions to keep your website secure and ensure you are prepared in the event of an attack.

Don’t know anything about information security? We offer a range of solutions to ensure your business is safe. Our Security Basic package minimizes the chance of attack by ensuring all systems are patched weekly. Why is this important you may ask? A recent study found that ninety-nine percent (99%) of exploited vulnerabilities were more than a year old with an accompanying patch available to close the vulnerability. Regular patching can improve the security of your systems dramatically. The basic package also includes automated website and database backups. In the event of a breach regular backups ensure your website will be back up in record time with a minimal loss to your bottom line.

More security measures in never a bad thing that is why we also offer our Security Standard package. In addition to the services offered in the Basic package, we will also perform monthly backup restore testing. Creating backups is important but if your backup is unable to be restored, it is useless. By performing regular restore testing any backup issues can be discovered before it is too late. The Standard package also includes quarterly vulnerability assessments. These assessments scan your server for vulnerabilities and as part of the package any vulnerabilities found will be resolved with no additional fee.

Our Security Premium package offers everything discussed above but also includes more frequent vulnerability testing as well as complementary incident response. What is incident response? Essentially it means in the event all the measures fail and you experience a breach, we will respond to the incident-free of charge and ensure that all attacks are halted, your system is secured, the extent of the breach is analyzed and ensure your system is brought back online quickly.
All businesses have different needs and if you feel none of our packages offer what you are looking for we would be happy to create a custom security solution to meet your needs. All you need to do is contact via phone or our project planner.

Today's Security Climate

Cybersecurity threats are the new “normal” in today’s climate with 45% of small business owners being a victim of an attack. What is most troubling is that more than three-quarters of small business owners feel it is unlikely to affect their business and that they only affect large businesses. Unfortunately, that is not the case, criminals have as much interest in targeting your small business than they do a Fortune 500 company.

What is more worrying is that most of these attackers are overseas and calling the police will not necessarily get your property back. Small business owners need to change their attitudes towards cybersecurity, stop being reactive and start taking proactive measures to protect their data and their customer’s information. Unfortunately, small businesses are at a disadvantage compared to larger companies. They cannot afford teams of cybersecurity professionals, payout bug bounties or purchase the latest intrusion detection devices. There are however many effective defenses that can be used to combat these attacks for minimal investment. Regular patching and backups, employee education and vulnerability scanning provide protection to Ransomware attacks, Phishing e-mails, and Malware.

Attacks from outside are not the only risks to your business. Governments around the world are actively updating laws to help keep the information of its citizens safe. In 2015, Canada introduced changes to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Among the changes, rules for how data is collected, the requirements around consent and what a business needs to do in the event of a breach. Failure to follow this act can result in fines up to $100,000, an amount that could bankrupt many small businesses.

Cybersecurity is not just an IT issue anymore; it is a boardroom issue. Business owners need to ensure that cybersecurity is regularly a part of the decision making process. It is not a matter of when your business will be attacked, it will be how much will it cost you to recover from the attack. That is if you can recover at all. Don’t let all the hard work you put into growing your business be lost with a simple breach.
